Use Shea Butter As A Nightime Moisturizer
With No Oily Residue
This week I visited my chiropractor, and he had me on the table laying face down with my face positioned on a disposable thin white material, like the ones used in many doctor’s offices . When I emerged I noticed all the oil from my face which had been transferred onto the paper.
Yes, I don’t deny it. It was shea butter oil.
Good News, Bad News and the Shea Butter Solution
Well the good news is that shea butter really does moisturize the skin and keeps it feeling soft. It protects your face from the winter’s cold, which was why I had applied so much of it to my face that morning.
The bad news is that I really don’t like my face that oily when going out in the day. The solution I know is to start to use my pure, unrefined shea butter at night and treat it as a nighttime moisturizer and facial crème. I’ve done it that way many times before and find that the skin still retains the moisture and sheen even after my morning shower.
I can see how people can use this heavy oil for medicinal purposes to rub into aching arthritic joints, to rub onto crusty heels and other rough spots that need healing.
Shea is also good for the after bath total body rubdown from head to toe (which I mentioned in my last shea butter blog post). Especially if you combine it with the use of an organic soap product to bath with. It’s like a bath made in heaven. The part I really like is that I know there are no harmful chemicals in either the organic soap or the pure, unrefined shea butter I use on my skin.
And that sets my mind at ease and allows me to use the bathing experience to totally relax and feel secure and carefree.
Now that I have discovered the luxurious and calming benefits of organic soaps, I plan to add them to our Shea Skins line, as well as the black soap that I mentioned in the article, “Managing African American Short Hair Styles”.
O...by the way, our Shea Skins Body Shoppe is now open. Go see for yourself.
Til next time,
